TIPS FOR GREAT PICS
- It almost goes without saying
that every bride should consult with a make-up artist months before
her wedding. A few different trial applications should be tested until the
bride is happy with what she sees.
-
- The size of a bouquet can make
a big difference in the look of the photos. A medium sized one is the best
bet. A large bouquet can be heavy to carry around all day and it usually
blocks a lot of the detail on the wedding gown. A very small one might not
give your pictures enough color contrast when the flowers are held against
the gown.
-
- The bride and groom should give
themselves enough time for their photo session. A relaxed couple will
photograph better than a couple that is feeling the stress of time
constraints. But let's face it, sometimes there is no choice in the matter,
so all concerned with the session should try to fully cooperate with their
photographer so that he or she can get the most out of whatever time is
allotted for photos.
-
- Try to select a park or indoor
facility that has been proven to be a picture friendly spot for those
all-important portraits and scenic landscapes that will adorn the wedding
album and possibly hang on your living room or bedroom wall. This is where
an experienced photographer with good taste comes in very handy. It would be
wise to listen to his advice …he's just as interested in getting beautiful
photographs as you are.
-
- Everyone should try to hold off
on the drinking of champagne or other alcoholic beverages until after the
photo session. Doing this will greatly help in keeping the eyes wide open
and the eye color as correct as possible. The facial muscles will also
respond better.
-
- Bring bottled water on a hot
day to help stay cool and refreshed. Also bring hair spray, lipstick,
make-up, and powder (for forehead, nose, and cheek glare or shine). Your
maid of honor and best man can be of great help in these matters.
-
- Try to avoid hairstyles that
will allow the hair to blow in your face.
-
- If possible, give the
photographer your undivided attention. Try to treat him with respect and
compliment him when it's appropriate. You see, if your photographer feels
that you appreciate him and his efforts, then he will probably perform with
more vigor and greater intensity. Remember you can catch more flies with
honey than with vinegar.
-
- If you remind your bridal party
that the pictures are very important to you, and that you would really
appreciate it if they behave themselves, then you will get better pictures.
This will allow your photographer to concentrate on what he was hired to do.
-
- Make sure all family members
(especially in-laws and grandparents) know exactly what time they have to
be there and where they have to meet you for the family photos. Again, this
will avoid causing you and your new spouse any unnecessary anxiety and
stress. It sometimes pays to tell them to arrive 15 minutes earlier than you
really need them to.
-
- A smart couple will
allow themselves to let go of all their inhibitions and enjoy every precious
moment of this truly special day. Don't allow anyone or anything to ruin the
most exciting day of your lives. Mishaps may occur and mistakes may be made,
but these things have to be ignored. Just shrug them off and enjoy the fact
that your wedding day has finally arrived and that you're celebrating it
with the people who love you most. Your love and happiness will show through
in your candid photos, and these beloved memories will last a lifetime.
